Power BI of Brewing Ingredients in North America
I propose a Local Beer category with similar Additional Notes as Fruit, Spice, Herb, Vegetable, and Fresh Hop Beer styles:
These ales or lagers are brewed with locally-grown and processed ingredients, typically from within the brewer’s local region or state. Local ingredients may include fruits, spices, herbs, vegetables, nuts, hops, malts, specialty grains, adjuncts, harvested yeast, other fungi, seafood, or other grown or harvested ingredients. To allow for accurate judging the brewer must identify an underlying ale, lager or hybrid beer style being elaborated upon with local ingredients. The brewer may indicate ‘no classic style’ in instances where the base beer does not hew to a category within these competition guidelines. The brewer must list the local ingredient(s) used, how many miles between the ingredient(s) source(s) and the brewing location, and any other ingredients or processes used. Beer entries not accompanied by this information will be at a disadvantage during judging.
